Communicating to Inspire and Influence

Communicating to inspire and influence key stakeholders is a critical skill at any level of leadership. It is especially important now as leaders are required to deliver greater business impact in a dynamic environment. We see the need for it everywhere: A CEO inspires her company with vision, strategy, and near-term actions to drive results. A Director or VP communicates strategies and plans to get cross-company buy-in. A manager aligns her team’s work to company goals and communicates key decisions. An individual contributor communicates the importance of her work, tees up issues and proposals, and identifies opportunities to drive greater impact.

The goal of this course is for you to learn common leadership communication expectations and leave with an impactful narrative to pilot in your day job. You’ll learn a narrative framework, see examples, and then workshop and rehearse your own narrative, aimed to help you communicate, inspire, and influence others.

Grace Chau is a Marketing VP, Board Member, and Advisor passionate about sharing lessons learned over 20 years of leading happy and high performing organizations through growth and change. Most recently Grace was VP Communities Marketing at Discord, responsible for all things community across marketing, community management, partnerships, and sales. Prior to that, Grace ran the business marketing function at Lyft for 3 years and was a pre-IPO consumer marketer at Meta building out the function over 7 years. Grace serves on the board of DoSomething.org, speaks on diversity, and earned her BA and MBA from Stanford.
